The creation of the regulator is a requirement of the State Regulation of Gambling Activities Act, which came into force on August 13, 2020.

The Commission's main task is to perform the functions of a licensing body in the lottery sphere. The regulator will make decisions on issuing, reissuing, suspending, revoking licenses, expanding or narrowing business activities by the licensee.
